Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, took decisive action following the national team’s disappointing performance in the World Cup, signaling a significant shake-up in the cricketing body.
Addressing concerns over the team’s lackluster showing, he initiated his first major move by removing Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from their roles in the selection committee.
The decision to dismiss Riaz and Razzaq was prompted by their association with player selections that did not meet expectations, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Naqvi expressed confidence in the capabilities of Muhammad Yusuf and Asad Shafiq, signaling that they will retain their positions under the new committee structure.
“This step is necessary to uphold meritocracy and ensure accountability within the PCB,” remarked a source close to the PCB chairman’s office.
The chairman’s actions underscore a commitment to reorganize and strengthen Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure, including the formation of a new selection committee in the near future.
