Monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will enter the upper regions of Pakistan from July 22.
According to the advisory, the Rawalpindi Division, Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, and Galiyat are likely to experience rain from July 22 to 25. Additionally, rains are forecast in Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Jhang, and Mianwali during this period.
The advisory also indicates that Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan may see rainfall on July 23 and 24.
Monsoon in Punjab
A PDMA spokesman says rains with gusty winds are likely in most districts of the province from July 22 to 25, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali.
From July 23 to 24, there are chances of wind and rain in southern Punjab districts. In view of the instructions of the chief minister, the departments concerned should remain alert. The PDMA DG says rains will reduce the intensity of heat and humidity.
However, the rains may cause floods in the rivers and canals of Punjab.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Malakand, Peshawar, and Kohistan are expected to have rains from July 22 to 24, while Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swabi, and Mardan will likely experience rain during the same dates.
For Balochistan, rain is anticipated in Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbela, Awaran, Ziarat, Zhob, Barkhan, and Harnai on July 23 and 24. In Sindh, Mithi, Sanghar, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, and Larkana are expected to receive rainfall from July 23 to 24.
The northern regions of Pakistan, including Diamer, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, and Ghanche, will also experience rains from July 22 to 27.
The Met Department has cautioned that during this period, there is a risk of flooding and landslides in local rivers. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecast partly cloudy skies for Karachi today, with a slight restoration of the sea breeze. There is also a possibility of drizzle and light rain, providing some relief to the residents.
Meanwhile, dark clouds are hovering over different areas of the city where rainfall is also being reported. These areas include Gulshan-e-Hadid, Landhi, Quaidabad and Clifton among others.
However, the maximum temperature is expected to reach between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius, with the current temperature recorded at 32 degrees Celsius. The intensity of heat is being felt up to 50 degrees Celsius.
The reduced sea breezes are causing a significant increase in the felt intensity of the heat. The humidity level in the air is quite high, standing at 79%, contributing to the discomfort. Winds are blowing from the northwest direction at a speed of 7km per hour, according to the Met Department.
