A German tourist, Berg Florian, was robbed and assaulted while camping near Lahore Airport.
The attack occurred in the northern Cantt area, where 27-year-old Florian, who had been cycling through Pakistan, was targeted by two unidentified assailants.
According to the FIR lodged by Florian, the incident unfolded around midnight. The victim had set up his camp near the airport when the muggers approached, demanding money and rummaging through his belongings.
As Florian attempted to flee, one of the attackers grabbed him by the throat, physically assaulting him and forcing him to surrender his valuables.
The robbers made off with Florian’s camera, valued at $2,000, along with his AirPods, iPhone, cash, and several electronic devices. The total estimated value of the stolen items amounts to approximately 500,000 Pakistani rupees.
A manhunt for the perpetrators is currently underway, aided by CCTV footage from the area. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran has taken immediate notice of the incident, instructing police to intensify their efforts to apprehend the culprits.
In a separate development, it was reported that after the attack, Florian, who had fallen unconscious a short distance away, was assisted by local youths who transported him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Following initial care, he was relocated to a nearby residence. The police have commenced an investigation following Florian’s complaint.
