According to the NDMA report, from July 1 to August 17, a total of 189 people have lost their lives due to heavy rains in the country.
In addition, 333 people were injured, including 137 children and 85 women. The rains have also caused significant damage to property, with 645 houses completely destroyed and 1,419 houses partially damaged. Furthermore, 8 schools and 35 bridges were damaged, and 323 animals were killed due to flooding.
It is pertinent to note that Karachi is experiencing light rain across various parts of the city, including Sadar, Numaish, Guru Mandir, and MA Jinnah Road. The Met Department had predicted this spell of light rain, with expectations for heavier rainfall from tomorrow.
Multan
In three separate incidents of electrocution occurred after the rain. The incidents occurred on Muzaffargarh Road, Gulgasht, and Wahari Road, as reported by rescue services.
The bodies were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, rescue officials confirmed.
Rojhan
It has been raining intermittently for three days in Rojhan and its surroundings and the level of the Indus River has risen due to continuous rain.
Slum areas like Badi Khuda Bakhsh, Seija, and others have been severely affected by the rain. Roofs and walls of several houses have collapsed due to the rains, injuring three people.
Residents of rain-affected slums have been shifted to safer places.
In Liaquatpura, intermittent rain continues in Liaquatpura and its surroundings. Several feeders have tripped, resulting in the suspension of electricity supply in rural areas.
Muzaffargarh
A 30-foot wide crack has appeared in the Rangpur Canal at Basti Kumharan in Muzaffargarh. The canal water has entered dozens of houses, leading to the displacement of local residents. Several houses have collapsed due to the canal water. The crack that appeared late at night has not been fixed yet.
The main Khushab road and the grade station are also at risk. A 10-foot wide crack has appeared in the safety dam at Londi Sedan.
Rajanpur
Water has started moving towards populated areas as recent rains on Mount Sulaiman have caused rivers to flood. A flood with a volume of 91,566 cusecs was recorded at Dara Kah Sultan.
Rajanpur: Lalgarh, Londi Sidan, Chitul, Jhok Mukul, Miranpur, Hajipur, and Chak Shaheed are under threat. A flood with a volume of 41,344 cusecs was recorded at Dara Chhachhar.
27,640 cusecs passed through Kala Baga Khosra, 7,440 cusecs through Patok, and 4,536 cusecs through Suri North.
5,120 cusecs passed through Dara Suri South, and 2,770 cusecs passed through Dara Khambi. A flood with a volume of 19,350 cusecs was recorded at Zangi Pass. High-level flood; rescue teams have started moving the affected residents to safer places.
Lodhran
The four walls of a house collapsed due to rain near Haqran in Lodhran. A 72-year-old passerby was killed due to the collapse.
Bahawalpur
A 20-foot wide crack appeared in Nahar Khatri bungalow near Head Rajkan due to rain. Hundreds of acres of agricultural land were flooded due to the crack.
There is fear of severe damage to the cultivated cotton in the flooded area.
Sadiqabad
It has been raining intermittently for 35 hours. The roof of a house collapsed due to rain in Gul Town. Four people were buried under the debris; a 4-year-old girl died, according to rescue officials.
Three people, including a husband and wife, were rescued and shifted to the hospital.
Rahim Yar Khan
The roof of a house collapsed due to rain in Taba Patan Minara, according to rescue officials. A 40-year-old man named Zahoor died after being buried under the debris, and a 35-year-old injured woman was shifted to the hospital.
