National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik said on Tuesday that the country knows how to overcome the myriad of challenges.
Addressing an event in Islamabad, Mr Malik said, ‘’The effective measures have been taken to strengthen the national and human securities’’.
He underscored the issues faced by climate change, saying, ‘’Every country is now impacted by climate change. The urban flooding is happening, and the glaciers are also being melted’’.
The NDMA chairman warned that there will be more effects of the environmental changes for up to 10 years.

‘’In a bid to attain the global benchmark, we will have to take effective steps until 2030. There is a dire need to expand the country’s resources,’’ he added.
The NDMA chief said, ‘’We will have to work on the food and job securities. It is compulsory to gear up to overcome the challenges posed by the calamities’’.
Recalling the flash floods in the country, he said, ‘’The country had to face consequences due to the unprecedented floods.
He admitted the country was going through the ''struggling phase’’.
