The relief previously granted by the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on electricity bills has been withdrawn for the residents of Islamabad, leaving them without the promised Rs 14 per unit discount in their September bills.
The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has officially communicated this decision through a letter issued on the orders of its CEO.
While consumers in Islamabad will not benefit from the relief, customers in other cities of Punjab, including those within the Rawalpindi Circles, will still enjoy the Rs 14 per unit discount.
The IESCO has also issued directives to modify the billing software accordingly to reflect the changes for residents of Islamabad.
This move comes after the initial announcement of relief from the Punjab government, aimed at easing the burden on consumers during the energy crisis.
However, the cancellation specifically affects residents of Islamabad’s fifteen sub-divisions, depriving them of the discount originally announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The notification has informed the relevant authorities of this change, with adjustments now underway to ensure accurate billing for September. While the decision has sparked concerns among consumers, IESCO has clarified that the relief package will still apply to residents of Rawalpindi and other Punjab cities.
