Former national cricket team captain Younis Khan has expressed his deep concern about the deteriorating infrastructure of Karachi, lamenting the state of the city he once knew as the “City of Lights.”
In his emotional appeal, Younis criticized the lack of care and attention given to Karachi’s roads and traffic system, likening the city’s current condition to the ancient ruins of Mohenjodaro.
He said that Karachi was not always in such a poor state, recalling a time when the roads were better, and the city’s infrastructure was well-maintained.
The former captain voiced frustration over how newly constructed roads are often dug up shortly after being built, calling it a sign of poor planning and management.
“The traffic system is in shambles, and citizens are also not fulfilling their responsibilities,” Younis said, noting that many people contribute to the city’s downfall by neglecting civic duties.
He highlighted a concerning example of children witnessing adults casually chewing Pan Gutka, an unhealthy habit that sets a poor example for the younger generation.
In his heartfelt plea, Younis Khan urged the authorities to reflect on their actions, warning that they would ultimately be held accountable. “We all have to answer to Allah,” he said, imploring those in power to act before it’s too late.
