Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman vowed on Thursday that he will stand by the national interests.
According to details, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led delegation called on Rehman. Both parties agreed to formulate the joint strategy pertaining to the constitutional amendment. It was decided to prepare joint or separate drafts through the consultations.
The two-member committee was formed, comprising Senator Kamran Murtaza and Salman Akram Raja.
Rehman said: "This is not a right narrative that I am asking to support any amendment. I am only looking to embrace the national interests."
The delegation had conveyed the message of the PTI founder to Rehman, saying, "You [Maulana Fazlur Rehman] have played a commendable role on the constitutional amendment."
Expressing his thoughts after meeting with Rehman, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said: "We have constituted the joint committee to review the constitutional matters."
"The way Maulana Fazlur Rehman helped to stop the constitution from getting sabotaged will be remembered forever," Raja stated.

– Constitutional amendment –
Few days back, Rehman said that his party wants the constitutional amendment for the sake of the judicial reforms.
Speaking to media in Multan, Rehman said: “We had given proposals in line with the judicial reforms. They [government representatives] were saying to withdraw the proposals in line with the judges and their ages.
“I had asked them to show us the draft. The government was not ready to give us the draft,” Rehman asserted.
“We don’t want amendment in the constitutional amendment by considering any personality. The situation in Islamabad is critical. We are of the view that it is better to go for the constitutional amendment considering the judicial reforms instead of thinking about the personality.”
Rehman said: “We were asked to give our support for the formation of the constitutional court. But, we replied that you should give us the draft first, and then we will hold a talk on the matter. The government was not willing to present the draft.”
“We [JUI-F] and the PPP were presented with one copy each of the draft. I am not sure that the copies presented to us and PPP were the same or different,” Rehman said.
