Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hamid Khan said on Sunday that he was not in favor of staging the protest on October 15 (Tuesday) during the forthcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Expressing his thoughts on Samaa TV programme “Mere Sawal with Absar Alam”, Khan said: “There is a need to review the decision as the foreign guests are heading to the country for the SCO summit.
He commended the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on the amendment, saying, “The PPP has always brought good amendments. It was a good initiative to restore the constitution through the 18th amendment.”
“It is not possible to have two constitutional courts in one country. The purpose of them is to harm the judicial system in the country. Nobody else will reap benefits by weakening the judiciary,” he stated.
Stressing the need for the negotiations, Khan said: “There is a need to hold talks at the national level on reforms.”
He recalled the ouster of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stalwart Yousuf Raza Gilani as the country’s premier, Khan said: “Yousuf Raza Gilani was ousted due to the contempt of the court. There was a need to disappoint the then president at that time.”
“Gilani had not written letter to the Swiss government on the court’s order,” he maintained.
