The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) were looking to reach consensus after the consultations pertaining to the constitutional amendment.
Speaking to media flanked by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman said: “We had rejected the initial draft, and even today we reject it.”
The constitutional amendment has reached consensus. The country and its constitution will only be saved by taking hard decisions,” he added.
Rehman called for the amendment, which will pave the way for bringing reforms in all the sectors.
“Yesterday, the PPP and JUI-F had almost agreed on the draft,” he said.
“We will also look to reach consensus with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the draft. I will also hold talks with the PTI leadership in Islamabad, ” he stated.
Meanwhile, expressing his thoughts, Bhutto-Zardari said, “All the three parties [PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F] have reached the consensus on the judicial reforms.”
“We will table the constitution in the parliament at the right time. The judicial reforms will ensure the interpretation and defense of the constitution,” he stated.
“The PPP is having the clear intentions of bringing the judicial reforms,” Bhutto-Zardari added.
Furthermore, speaking about the constitutional amendment, the deputy prime minister said: “None of the parties have any of their own objectives in line with the constitutional amendment.”
“Whatever is happening for the masses’ betterment,” Dar said.
– Nawaz Sharif hosts luncheon for political leadership –
Earlier on Wednesday, PML-N President Abdul Aleem Khan on Wednesday hosted the luncheon for the political leadership at Jati Umra.
According to details, President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari were welcomed by Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had also attended the luncheon.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was also present.
President Zardari was flanked by Naveed Qamar, Murtaza Wahab, and Punjab Governor Saleem Haider.
Rehman was accompanied by JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza.
The JUI-F chief was also welcomed by both Nawaz and PM Shehbaz.
– Almost close to reach consensus on constitutional amendment –
Few days back, expressing his thoughts in Tando Allahyar, during which he talked about the constitutional amendment, Rehman said: “We are almost close to reaching the consensus on the constitutional amendment.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party, and JUI-F had shared their drafts of the constitutional amendment, respectively.”
Rehman maintained: “I will also hold talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).”
