An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has sentenced 10 individuals involved in the May 9, 2023 violence case to imprisonment of up to six years, along with fines.
The convicts include Abid Mahmood, Ahsan Ayaz, Naeemullah, Matiullah, Shaukat, and Zakirullah Khan.
Among the convicted are four Afghan nationals identified as Dawood Khan, Younus Khan, Ehsanullah, and Lal Agha.
The incident, which occurred on May 9, 2023 led to the registration of cases against 17 suspects the next day on May 10. After an investigation, one suspect was acquitted, while six others remain at large. The court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the absconding suspects and directed authorities to apprehend them and produce them in court.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that those involved in masterminding or facilitating anti-state activities under the guise of protests will face strict legal action.
The government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards any activity threatening the nation's peace and stability.
