The authorities launched on Tuesday a rigorous crackdown on the vehicles emitting smoke in the city on the orders of the Lahore High Court.
According to details, during the last 24 hours, fines were imposed on 83 vehicles for emitting excessive smoke, while several motorcycles were also penalized for releasing dangerous levels of emissions.
The efforts were underway to tackle smog using advanced measures, including 41 teams equipped with artificial intelligence systems to monitor emissions and identify hotspots.
In a bid to alleviate air pollution, the entry of heavy traffic into Lahore had been completely banned on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. “The enforcement of these measures reflects our commitment to combating smog and ensuring public safety,” said Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar.
