Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail flayed on Tuesday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan over his dealings with property tycoon Malik Riaz, making a sharp-witted critique of past political practices.
Addressing an event in Karachi, Ismail declared, “If I or Shahid Khaqan Abbasi ever became the prime minister, we would neither accept an aircraft from Malik Riaz nor return money to him.” He further asserted that no requests would be made for land from the businessman.
The former minister underscored his two-time tenure as finance minister, remarking that his wife had never sought a ring from anyone.
Commenting on the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), Ismail recalled that when the law had been introduced during the PTI founder’s tenure, Shehbaz Sharif had opposed it.
“Today, Shehbaz Sharif is getting it passed, while the founder now stands against it,” he said.
Referring to the shifting political stances, Ismail sarcastically stated, “The sky changes its colours in ways unimaginable.”
