National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub said on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will observe February 8 as the "black day"
In a video statement, Ayub said, "The masses' mandate and party's valuable votes were snatched on this day [February 8, 2024]." He insisted on staging the protests in every nook and cranny of the country.
Speaking about the party's plan to stage a public gathering in Swabi, Ayub urged the masses to pour onto the streets in Swabi.
Meanwhile, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said that the federal government was doing nothing over the appointment of the new chief election commission as the tenure of the current one was ended on January 24 (Monday).
Underlining the importance of the electoral watchdog, Akram stated, "The ECP is a constitutional institution. We always faced problems from the current ECP."
"This ECP had conducted the engineered elections," said the PTI leader.
He rued, "There is a huge list, including the snatching of the public mandate."
Akram said, "It is a crime to keep the PTI away from the reserved and Senate seats."
"The complaint against ECP chief Sikandar Raja has been submitted in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC)," maintained Akram.
