A significant development emerged in the area of bomb detection at airports with the decision to hand over 18 British-made Explosotrace Detection machines to the Airport Security Force (ASF).
These state-of-the-art machines were acquired for identifying explosive materials. The machines had been previously obtained from the United Kingdom by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), with the primary goal of ensuring security clearance for direct flights to the UK.
The newly acquired machines are specifically intended for use at Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports.
An official stated, “The acquisition of these machines will also facilitate security clearance for direct flights to the United States.”
