Oman has reopened its E-Visa programme for 2025, offering international students, including Pakistanis, a streamlined application process to facilitate travel for education and short-term visits.
The initiative aims to enhance accessibility while ensuring faster processing through the Royal Oman Police (ROP) E-Visa portal.
Pakistani students seeking higher education or short stays in Oman can now apply for their visas online without the need to visit consulates. The digital platform enables applicants to submit documents, make payments, and receive approvals efficiently.
As part of the latest updates, Oman has introduced an unsponsored tourist visa, which allows eligible students to visit the country for educational events or short-term explorations without requiring a local sponsor. This development is expected to benefit those planning brief stays during academic breaks or after graduation.
Expanded access and policy changes
Oman’s E-Visa programme now extends to citizens of over 100 countries, aligning with Muscat’s strategy to attract more international visitors, including students.
However, the Sultanate has also introduced key work visa restrictions, particularly in the construction and hospitality sectors, as part of its Omanization policy—a government initiative aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Omani nationals.
Additionally, starting in 2025, health insurance will become mandatory for expatriates, including students, who will need coverage provided by their employers or sponsors.
Application process
Students and other eligible applicants can check their visa eligibility and submit applications online via the Royal Oman Police E-Visa portal at evisa.rop.gov.om.
The latest E-Visa initiative is expected to enhance opportunities for Pakistani students aspiring to study or visit Oman, providing greater ease of access and a simplified visa process.
