The Eid-Al-Fitr festival could be observed on March 31, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which forecasted the sighting of the Shawwal moon on March 30.
The department's expert, Anjum Nazir Zaighum, stated that the moon’s birth would occur on March 29 at 3:58 pm, with sunset expected at 6:48 PM.
In his statement, Zaighum, from the Meteorological Department, explained that the moon would likely be visible for up to 70 minutes after sunset. "The age of the moon at sunset would be 27 hours and 13 minutes," he added.
He said: "For the moon to be visible, its age should be at least 19 hours."
Zaighum confirmed that the final announcement regarding the moon sighting would be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on the 29th of Ramadan.
He suggested that Eid-Al-Fitr might fall on March 31 based on the observations of the moon, and the chances of sighting it on March 30 were significant.
