Nintendo has officially revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released worldwide on June 5, 2025.
This announcement came during a special Nintendo Direct presentation on April 2, 2025.
The new console comes with notable upgrades, including a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with HDR support and a 120Hz refresh rate, which promises to offer smoother, more vibrant visuals compared to its predecessor.
The internal storage of the Nintendo Switch 2 has been increased to 256GB, allowing players to store a larger collection of games and media.
The redesigned Joy-Con controllers now attach magnetically and feature a new "C" button that enhances interactive chat and screenshare functions.
At launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature several exciting titles, including "Mario Kart World," which introduces an open-world mode where players can explore levels at their own pace.
A special "Mario Kart Direct" has been scheduled for April 17, 2025, to provide more details on the game.
Other titles available at launch will include "Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour," a game designed to help players become familiar with the new system's features.
The console maintains compatibility with most physical and digital games from the original Switch, ensuring that players can continue enjoying their existing libraries. However, some titles may not be fully supported.
To allow gamers a hands-on experience with the new system, Nintendo will host "Switch 2 Experience" events in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris, starting this month.
Details regarding pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have not yet been revealed. Fans have been encouraged to stay tuned to Nintendo’s official channels for further updates.
