A detailed report submitted by the Punjab government to the Supreme Court revealed that the province incurred a staggering loss of Rs190.7 million during the May 9th incidents.
The damage, which affected 38 districts, included vandalism and harm to both public and private properties.
According to the report, Lahore suffered a loss of Rs110 million, Rawalpindi incurred Rs20.6 million in damage, and Mianwali faced losses amounting to Rs50 million.
The report also highlighted that 319 cases were registered across the province on May 9th, with a total of 35,962 accused individuals.
Of these, 11,367 were arrested, while 24,595 remain at large.
Punjab’s lawyer informed the court that the events on May 9th were not simply protests or rallies but an assault on a state institution.
