Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached Belarus on a two-day official visit aimed at bolstering bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors.
Upon his arrival in the capital Minsk, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin welcomed his Pakistani counterpart. Officials of the Pakistani Embassy in Belarus were also present to welcome the PM.
The visit, taking place from April 10 to 11, comes at the invitation of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. A high-level delegation is accompanying the prime minister, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
In a noteworthy development, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has also joined the official trip to Belarus.
According to a spokesperson from the Foreign Office, the PM's visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its longstanding partnership with Belarus. The spokesperson confirmed that multiple bilateral agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, covering diverse areas of cooperation.
During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold formal talks with President Lukashenko to review the progress made in key areas of mutual interest. The visit builds on recent diplomatic momentum, following President Lukashenko’s visit to Pakistan in November 2024 and the 8th Session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission held in February 2025.
A recent high-powered ministerial delegation from Pakistan also visited Belarus earlier this month, laying a strong foundation for meaningful outcomes during this trip.
