In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and address key security concerns, Pakistan and Afghanistan held a crucial meeting of the Pak-Afghan Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on Wednesday.
The high-level gathering, held in Islamabad, saw representatives from both sides engaging in constructive dialogue, laying the groundwork for enhanced cooperation on various fronts.
The Afghan delegation, led by Governor Kandahar Mullah Shireen Akhund and accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission of Afghan Military Intelligence, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding hospitality towards Afghan refugees. For four decades, Pakistan has generously hosted millions of Afghan families fleeing conflict and instability, a gesture acknowledged with gratitude by the Afghan officials.
A spokesperson from the Foreign Office highlighted the outcomes of the meeting, emphasizing the shared commitment to exchange ideas and sustain dialogue for mutual cooperation and progress.
Moreover, the Afghan delegation, during their meeting with Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, engaged in discussions encompassing various dimensions of bilateral relations and pertinent security matters.
Beyond the JCC meeting, Governor Akhund and Afghan MI officials also held separate talks with Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani. The discussions delved deeper into bilateral relations and security issues, highlighting the shared desire for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. Pakistan reiterated its unwavering determination to continue engaging with Afghanistan through dialogue and cooperation.
