Private schools in Punjab are urging the Chief Minister and the Secretary of Higher Education for a one-month postponement of the upcoming matriculation exams.
Citing the recent smog and extended winter holidays, they argue that students haven't had sufficient time to complete the syllabus and prepare for the crucial exams.
According to media reports, Mian Shabir Ahmad Hashmi, Central President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA), highlighted the disruption caused by smog and holidays. He expressed concern that the nearly month-long break significantly impacted student learning, leaving the syllabus incomplete.
The APPSA president highlighted that the recent smog conditions and prolonged winter breaks have disrupted the academic calendar, leaving many students with incomplete syllabi.
He stressed the importance of granting an additional month to cover the curriculum comprehensively, allowing for revision and ample time for students to prepare adequately for their exams.
In further addressing the issue, Hashmi proposed a revised exam schedule, suggesting that due to the extended holidays and upcoming elections, the matriculation exams should ideally commence from April 15th.
His request encompassed a call for a one-month postponement for all exams, including PAF, PEMA, and the Matric exams, to ensure that students have ample time to adequately prepare and perform to the best of their abilities.
