Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) has officially announced its candidates for 30 National Assembly constituencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, gearing up for the general elections scheduled for February 8.
Party spokesperson Jalil Jan revealed the list of 30 confirmed candidates, adding that consultations were ongoing for a few remaining seats. Notably, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s sons, Asjad Mahmood and Asaad Mahmood, received party tickets to contest from Lakki Marwat and Tank, respectively.
The announcement also drew attention to the exclusion of Maulana Fazlur Rehman himself from the list. While no official reason was provided, speculation suggests difficulties in securing a suitable constituency for the party leader. Similarly, tickets were not issued to Nasser Musi Zai from NA-30 and Noor Alam Khan from NA-28, likely due to internal deliberations.
In a strategic move, JUI-F has also welcomed two former members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) into the fold, granting them tickets for Peshawar constituencies.
