The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting rainfall and snowfall across various regions of Pakistan from January 31 to February 4.
In the last 24-hours, temperatures varied significantly, with Kalam recording a chilly minus seven degrees Celsius, Islamabad at seven degrees Celsius, and Karachi comparatively warmer at eighteen degrees Celsius.
The department's advisory warns of potential rain and snowfall in Balochistan on February 2 and 3, posing the risk of flooding in certain areas. Similarly, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, and Galiat are also expected to experience snowfall, accompanied by the threat of landslides and road closures, particularly in Galiyat and northern regions.
In addition to Balochistan and the northern areas, rainfall is forecasted in parts of Sindh, including Islamabad, the Potohar region, south and central Punjab, and Karachi. All relevant authorities have been notified to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
Notable temperature readings include minus five degrees Celsius in Gopus, minus four degrees Celsius in Skardu, and minus three degrees Celsius in Rawalakot. Meanwhile, Islamabad and Lahore recorded temperatures of seven and eight degrees Celsius, respectively, while Karachi remained warmer at eighteen degrees Celsius. Peshawar registered at three degrees Celsius, and Quetta at eight degrees Celsius.
With the weather conditions expected to impact various regions, residents and authorities are advised to stay informed and take appropriate measures to ensure safety and mitigate any potential risks associated with the forecasted rainfall and snowfall.
