With the upcoming elections in Pakistan drawing near, the Punjab government has announced a week-long closure of all educational institutions in the province.
The decision, aimed at ensuring a smooth electoral process and facilitating logistical arrangements, will affect schools, colleges, and universities from February 6th to 9th.
All schools, colleges, and universities across the province will be closed from Monday, February 6th, to Friday, February 9th. This coincides with the official election period, with Kashmir Day, a public holiday, falling on February 5th further extending the break.
"This measure is vital to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process," stated Chief Minister Naqvi. "By closing educational institutions, we can free up space for polling stations and logistical arrangements, while also encouraging teachers and students to actively participate in their civic duty."
Until February 3rd, educational institutions will continue to operate until 9:30 AM, allowing students and staff to conclude their academic activities before the temporary closure begins.
