Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has emphasized his commitment to progressive and new ideas, stating that he cannot support those clinging to old ideologies.
In an interview with the British Broadcasting Organization (BBC), Bilawal highlighted concerns about the quality of elections in Pakistan, pointing out instances where politicians faced challenges in participating, both in 2018 and 2013.
He urged reflection on political decisions, emphasizing the need for new thinking and a departure from non-judicial methods.
Addressing the role of the establishment, Bilawal acknowledged that its influence cannot end abruptly, requiring a persistent struggle. He advocated for institutions to operate within their defined boundaries, emphasizing that politicians should take the first step and foster mutual respect despite ideological differences. Bilawal expressed disappointment with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), stating that their priorities became evident during collaboration.
Regarding potential coalitions after the upcoming general elections, Bilawal asserted that he would not align with either the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), underlining his commitment to conveying the party's manifesto and pursuing progressive politics.
In a critique of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal conveyed his disappointment, emphasizing the need for a departure from old politics to garner support. Bilawal stressed the importance of respecting each other in politics and encouraged all institutions to function within their designated limits.
The PPP Chairman's stance reflects a commitment to transformative politics and a departure from traditional political norms.
