The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to rename the historic Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, with plans to dedicate it to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder.
According to official sources, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved the renaming, and a summary has been prepared by the provincial sports ministry. The proposal is expected to be presented in the upcoming cabinet meeting on Friday, where it is likely to receive final approval.
A spokesperson for the KP government confirmed that alongside the renaming, renovation and beautification work at the stadium is also in progress. "With the approval of the provincial government, significant upgrades are being made to enhance the stadium's infrastructure," the spokesperson added.
Arbab Niaz Stadium, one of Pakistan’s historic cricket venues, was originally named after the late Arbab Niaz, a former mayor of Peshawar and a federal minister.
