The Iqbal Town police has registered a case over the alleged encounter on Saturday in which six suspected robbers were killed in the area.
The case has been registered under 11 sections, including terrorism, on the complaint of Station House Officer (SHO) Javed Hasan.
According to the first information report (FIR), the police received a call on its 15 helpline from Iqbal Town’s College Block that suspected robbers had broken into the house of Dr Ibad and taken the family hostage.
It further said that the local police, the SHO, and the police force went in pursuit of the suspects. As soon as the suspected robbers saw the police, they opened fire.

The FIR said one of the robbers was in the garage and two in the TV lounge. Armed robbers were also present on the upper portion of the house, it added.
During the ensuing encounter, all six armed robbers were killed, the FIR stated, adding that pistols and bullets were seized from the possession of the slain robbers.
Earlier today, the CCTV footage of the six suspected dacoits entering Dr Ibad's house had come to the fore.

As per the footage, the six men entered the house in three couples, with intervals of a few minutes of each other.
The footage shows the first two suspects entering the house with a bucket, posing as painters. A few minutes later, two more can be seen entering the house through its gate. Moments later, the last two can be seen walking towards the house.
House owner Dr Ibad said the suspects asked the house help to open the gate, posing as painters. Later, the alleged robbers held all the family members at gunpoint in the drawing room, he added.
On Saturday, six alleged robbers were killed in an intense exchange of fire with the police in the Iqbal Town area of Lahore.
