The Ministry of Religious Affairs decided to enhance the Hajj quota under the sponsorship scheme, providing more opportunities for Pakistani pilgrims.
The initial allocation of 10,000 slots has been increased to 25,000, offering a greater chance for devout individuals to embark on the sacred journey to Saudi Arabia.
The Religious Affairs Ministry has communicated to the Ministry of Finance the estimated financial requirements for the upcoming Hajj operation.
With a total foreign exchange demand of $280 million, the ministry anticipates securing $100 million from the sponsorship scheme. This move aims to facilitate the pilgrimage process and ensure a smooth experience for the pilgrims.
Dollar transactions and passport prerequisites
Under the sponsorship scheme, the expenses for Hajj will be collected in dollars, emphasizing the need for applicants to possess a valid Pakistani passport.
This shift in the currency of transactions aims to streamline the financial aspects of the pilgrimage and maintain transparency in the process.
Cost breakdown - Hajj expenses set at $3,800
Pilgrims opting for Hajj under the sponsorship scheme will incur a cost of up to $3,800. This includes various expenses associated with the sacred journey, and the revised quota seeks to accommodate a diverse range of individuals seeking to fulfill their religious obligations.
SShort Hajj package with added costs
In addition to the expanded quota, the government has introduced a short Hajj package, designed to conclude within a maximum of 25 days. However, prospective pilgrims opting for this expedited journey should be prepared to bear an additional cost of Rs. 80,000 compared to the regular Hajj package. This option aims to cater to those with time constraints, offering a more expedited Hajj experience.
This move by the Ministry of Religious Affairs not only reflects a commitment to inclusivity but also addresses the financial aspects associated with the sacred pilgrimage, ensuring a more accessible and organized Hajj for the Pakistani community.
