Mar Galcerán has made history in Spain, becoming the country’s first parliamentarian with Down syndrome. Galcerán has long held political ambitions and is committed to dismantling barriers for people with disabilities.
As a member of the People’s Party since she was 18-years-old, she has worked her way up the ranks.
She has spent more than two decades focusing on policies relating to improving inclusion for those with intellectual disabilities.
She has also worked at Asindown, an organization supporting children with Down syndrome.
“Society is starting to see that people with Down’s syndrome have a lot to contribute. But it’s a very long road,” she shared.
