Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday took to the streets to gauge the impact of recent price adjustments on basic food items, particularly roti and naan.
The leaders, accompanied by a team of officials, personally visited Ada Plot - a bustling market of Lahore- to interact with bakers and consumers alike.
They sought firsthand information on the prevailing rates of bread and listened attentively to the concerns of both vendors and customers.
During the impromptu market visit, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif conversed with local bakers, inquiring about the pricing dynamics and the challenges they face in maintaining affordable rates for staple food items.
The presence of such high-profile figures elicited a positive response from the public, who appreciated the leaders' efforts to connect with the grassroots level.
Moreover, the PML-N leaders also engaged with citizens, soliciting their opinions and feedback on the recent decision by the Punjab government to reduce the price of roti and naan.
Earlier, on April 15, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, announced a significant reduction in the price of bread, slashing the cost of a standard loaf to Rs16.
This decision, aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens, was swiftly implemented across all districts of Punjab.
