A high-level committee investigating the wheat import scandal has decided to question former caretaker prime minister Anwarul Haq Kakar.
This move comes after a marathon meeting of the 4-member committee, chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, which lasted several hours.
The committee has already questioned former caretaker ministers Shamshad Akhtar, Gohar Ijaz, and former Punjab Chief Minister, as part of its probe into the scandal.
The committee members are of the opinion that the caretaker cabinet played a crucial role in the wheat import decision-making process, and therefore, it is essential to question the former Prime Minister to get a comprehensive understanding of the events.
The committee has already completed the questioning of former secretaries Muhammad Mahmood and Captain (retd) Asif, and has also investigated relevant officials from Customs, Karachi Port, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The investigation is ongoing, and the committee is leaving no stone unturned to uncover the truth behind the wheat import scandal.
