The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to go on a symbolic hunger strike outside the Parliament House and Punjab Assembly today.
PTI lawmakers will start a hunger strike camp on Tuesday, which will be led by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and other members will sit in the hunger strike camp.
The symbolic hunger strike will continue from 3pm to 7pm.
On the other hand, the Sunni Ittehad Council has also decided to set up a hunger strike camp in Punjab after a similar one planned in the federal capital by the PTI. The camp will be held from July 24 outside the Punjab Assembly from 3pm to 7pm.
Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Bachhar says that the decision to observe a hunger strike was taken on the orders of PTI Founder Imran Khan, while the parliamentary leader Mian Aslam Iqbal was also consulted over it.
The symbolic hunger strike camp is meant for the demanding the release of party Founder Imran Khan, and against the arrests of social media activists, as well as rising inflation.
