The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for the postponement of the upcoming demonstration of the party scheduled for October 15 at D Chowk.
Sources have said that PTI workers in the province have expressed frustration that they're tired over continuous protests and called for the postponement. The provincial chapter is in favour of postponing the October 15 protest.
According to party sources, PTI’s district organizations in KP have informed the provincial leadership that party workers are tired and need a break from the series of protests. The provincial leadership, including the KP chief minister who also serves as the party's provincial president, has called a meeting of key leaders to discuss the matter. The outcome of this meeting will be communicated to the central leadership later today.
Several senior PTI figures, including Barrister Gohar and Asad Qaiser, are reportedly in favour of postponing the protest. Party workers feel that their continued participation in demonstrations is becoming exhausting, and they have requested a brief respite.
Additionally, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has also urged the PTI leadership to postpone the protest in light of the situation.
There are also complaints from PTI workers in KP that their counterparts in Punjab, including leaders and supporters, have been largely absent from the recent protests. This lack of participation has further demotivated KP workers, fuelling their calls for postponing the upcoming demonstration.
