The Awami National Party will contest the February 8 election on the lantern symbol. The Election Commission of Pakistan allotted the election symbol to the ANP and gave it till May 10 to conduct intra-party elections.
The ECP announced its decision on the ANP’s intra-party election that it had reserved on December 21. According to the decision, the election symbol has been allotted to the Awami National Party that will contest the general elections on the lantern symbol.
The commission also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on the party for not holding the intra-party polls and gave it time till May 10 to complete the exercise.
